*the great robot exhibition - tokyo*
I’m here in Tokyo to visit ‘The Great Robot Exhibition - Karakuri, anime and the latest robots’ at The National Science Museum, Tokyo. The three main themes were Karakuri, Robot, and Imagination. I was so happy seeing a Karakuri Dashi (festival) float at the centre of the of the exhibition space, it was like the heart of the show. All the latest robots were there, it was quite overwhelming seeing everything assembled in one place. There was a space set up exclusively for Honda’s Asimo, where there were half hour shows that were so different to the way I recently saw Asimo demonstrated in Australia. Here in Japan the show is almost like a soap drama, and Asimo is part of the family. I want to write some about this soon (separate to the robot exhibition review), its been a big topic of discussion for me this trip to Japan on many different levels…
I’m just writing a more detailed review of the show and trying to organise all the images… I think I will have to separate it into 3 posts corresponding to the different themes.
In the meantime, there’s a nice review posted on pingmag.jp - that even mentions my karakuri.info website (thanks ping!)
