*Brown Bag - Koh Hosoda*

Yesterday Professor Koh Hosoda gave a Brown Bag talk on “Understanding Humanoid Intelligence via Artificial Muscles and Skin”. He is based at Osaka University, Asada Lab and is involved with the Exploratory Research for Advanced Technology (ERATO) Humanoid Project.

He showed some fascinating clips relating to work he is doing with artificial muscles and soft skin in humanoid robots. He has been studying how infants begin walking and then replicating walking, jumping and bouncing movement with uni and bipedal robots.

We went out to dinner afterwards and had a great discussion about Karakuri and also robot appearance. I really enjoyed talking to him. He has invited me to visit his lab when I return to Japan.
